Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
In 2006-07 a UConn team, consisting of representatives in the areas of Architectural Engineering and Builiding Services (AEBS), Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), Facilities Operations and the Office of Environmental Policy (OEP), met on more than 20 occasions to identify the elements of an Environmental Management Plan (EMP), design each element and formulate an implementation strategy.
The Plan, as formulated, is intended to provide both a general framework for environmental management at the University and a specific structure for the implementation of the University's environmental policies. The EMP, which memorializes dynamic processes, will continually be reassessed and improved even during the course of its implementation period.
The EMP Timetable outlines the nine Program Elements that comprise the EMP and, for each, identifies an assigned leader, describes the specific activities and provides an estimated timeline for activity completion. Although the vast majority of the Plan is applicable only to the Storrs Campus, some of the Program Elements, such as Environmental Policy, broadly affect environmental management for the University as a whole and will be implemented University-wide.
